Ultrasounds and dating conception

The estimated gestational age is likely to appear incorrect because the measurements would lump your baby in with babies further along in development. In addition to the ultrasound, the doctor has other methods of estimating gestational age.Later in the pregnancy, the obstetrician or midwife uses measurements of the expectant mother's abdomen.Called the fundal height, the measurement used goes from the top of the uterus to the pubic bone.Anyways, I didn't know when my last cycle was so when I was 6 weeks they did a dating ultrasound for 1/16.I don't know why I didn't explain then that I was almost positive conception was 4/3 but since then I've been going with the 1/16 date and appear on track with it in regards to growth.but then i read this an article by the doctor Jane Foley(you can google her) where she explains the dating of pregnancy and the "missing 2 weeks".

hoping my LO will come healthy when he's ready :) we should update once we have baby if we were right!DH and I were talking tonight and we definitely think we know the date of conception for this baby.We had sex April 3rd because we were moving to live into my in-laws while in the process of buying a home.Using the date of the last period gives a general idea of that information, but abnormalities in the cycle or inaccuracies in the date affect the calculations.Ultrasounds commonly are used to determine the age of a fetus.
